Meet Our Pastor

Bishop Leroy McClain, Sr. is the founding Pastor of God’s Temple of Faith Ministries located in Syracuse, New York. He is one of the founders of Full Gospel Christian Fellowship, and he also serves as the General Secretary.

He is known as a respected preacher, teacher and leader in Greater Syracuse and Central New York. Bishop McClain is an anointed vessel that has been used mightily by God over the years. Individuals have been healed and delivered from sicknesses, diseases, and infirmities.  He has been referred to as a “demon buster” for the many people that have sought him out to be free from demonic activity. He has encouraged and been a blessing to many through powerful words of knowledge from the Lord. He was baptized in the Holy Spirit in September of 1969 during a revival that was being conducted by Evangelist Mattie Campbell, at the age of fifteen. He was trained and nurtured as a junior deacon and eventually a minister, under the leadership of his pastor and mentor, the late Reverend Alfonso Campbell. Pastor Arthur Lee Johnson ordained him an Elder in 1974.  During that time, he was a part of an evangelistic team that conducted revival meetings from New Jersey to Florida.  On February 15, 1978 he was called into the Pastorate position. His spiritual development has been influenced by; a husband and wife team, the late Elder Louis and Janetta Kerse, Elder McGriff, Apostle Billy Clay, Pastor Walter C. Blue, Mother Davis, Mother Ollie Brantley, Pastor E. Fussell, Evangelist Inez Matthews, Evangelist Earnest Angly and the late A. A. Allen.  He was ordained as a Bishop in August 2004 by Bishop J. Charles Carrington Jr.

Pastor Leroy McClain, Sr. was educated in the Syracuse City School system. He also attended Trinity Theological Seminary in Indiana. He was one of the founding members of ACTS; Alliance of Communities Transforming Syracuse.  He served as Co-Chair during its inception and became the first President of this faith-based organization. He also served as the head of the financial committee for ACTS. Early in the year 2004, he received the St. Matthew's Seed of Change Award for his service to the community. He also was influential in forming The Onondaga Creek Partnership, which was created to stop the injustice of a sewage treatment plant being placed into a black neighborhood. He was also instrumental in uniting people on the South Side of the city to taking a greater interest in rebuilding their community through a project entitled “Gateway.”

Born the third oldest of four children to Ida Pearl McClain, he was greatly influenced by the family’s matriarch, his grandmother, the late Stella McClain; who was affectionately referred to as “Chief.” Bishop Leroy McClain married his childhood sweetheart, Pamela Campbell in May 1976. They reside in Syracuse, New York with their three adoring children, Rachel LaToya (Angel) , Leroy Jr. (Mariama) and Michael Cory (Kyasha). Bishop Leroy McClain, Sr. has ten wonderful and loving grandchildren and one great grand.
